FOSTER CARE AGREEMENT AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY
This document provides for the release of liability of the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, Inc. (LRRF) organization and its members and representatives due to the actions of any Labrador Retriever or Labrador Retriever Mix (dog) which has been released into the ownership of LRRF and placed into a foster home with the party named above.
I/We, the Foster Care provider(s) named above, understand and acknowledge that although LRRF, its members and representatives, have made every effort to evaluate the health and temperament of dogs placed in the fosters care, it is impossible to predict the behavior of every dog in every situation. Therefore, I/We must take necessary precautions to prevent accidents and guard against unpredicted actions by any dog I/We foster. I/We will closely supervise my dog when around children and will at no time leave the dog unattended when children are present. Further, I/We agree to take adequate care of the dog(s) I/We foster while they are in my possession, providing food, water, and shelter as needed. I/We also promise to notify LRRF if any fostered dog is in need of veterinary care.
I/We understand and acknowledge that although the foster animal(s) in my care will receive preventative immunizations, because of the sometimes dire circumstances from which many of the rescued animals come, any animal may carry or could have already been exposed to an infectious disease, which may not be apparent for several days. I/We have determined that the animal(s) is acceptable for me/us and my/our household to foster, and I/We agree to indemnify and hold harmless LRRF, LRRF Volunteers and any other LRRF representatives for any illness the animal may develop and any injury or damage my foster dog may cause once I/We have taken possession of the animal. All foster dogs will be taken to a vet for an examination, Spay/Neuter, Distemper/Parvo, Rabies and Heart Worm test by LRRF or me. Any treatment prescribed by the veterinarian will be administered by me as required. All foster dogs will be given a collar and a LRRF ID tag and the tag number registered with the LRRF coordinator. This collar and ID tag stays on the dog at all times and goes with the dog at adoption.
At no time will I/We allow this dog to be a nuisance to people or other animals. To that end, I/We will keep it safely confined in a crate inside a house or garage or in a fenced yard or kennel run when it is not with me or a member of my family. At no time will the dog be placed outside on a tie-out unless under the direct supervision of a responsible adult and approval by a LRRF board member. When off my property, the dog will be kept on a leash unless it is in a fenced area.
I/We understand that I/We may donate any expense incurred by my foster dog; however, LRRF agrees to pay for or reimburse me for:
1. Food, including any special food required by a sick dog
2. All veterinary expenses including spay/neuter. HOWEVER, all non-emergency veterinary treatment must be preauthorized by a LRRF Board member.
I/We agree to show my foster dog to prospective adopters by appointment. Since I/We will know my foster dog better than anyone else, should I/We feel a prospective adopter is not the right person for my foster dog, I/We have the right to refuse to allow the dog to be adopted by that person. In such a case, I/We will immediately contact a Board member and state my reasons for such refusal and refer the prospective adopter to that Board member for final determination. I/We understand that fostering a dog for LRRF is not the same as adopting a dog from LRRF. If I/We wish to adopt a dog I/We foster, then I/We must submit an adoption application and fee but not until such time as I/We have completed fostering at least THREE dogs from intake through adoption for LRRF.
I/We, the Fosters(s) further attest that I/We have read the foster handbook and will use it as a resource, as well as reaching out to other volunteers for help. I/We agree to return my foster dog to LRRF immediately upon request. I/We, Foster, have read, understand and accept the above LRRF Agreement and Release of Liability.
